Neil Song on Kosovar Refugee Benefit: War Of Man
on the No Boundaries CD
Neil's last album -- Year Of The Horse -- was released 2 years ago
this week (June 17, 1997). Since then Neil fans who couldn't make it to his
live shows on the HORDE tour in 97, Farm Aid, the Bridge
School shows or this year's solo tour have had little new Neil material to
satisfy their cravings.
Only twice since YOTH have new Neil tracks hit the streets -- and
both were older live performances released on compilation CDs. In November
of 1997, Neil's I Am A Child (from an early Bridge School benefit
concert) was included on a compilation of Bridge Benefit performances (by many
artists at those concerts). And last fall Neil's no-guitar performance of (Sittin'
On) The Dock of the Bay -- backed by Booker T and the MGs during
his tour with them in 1993 -- closed out the MGs' box set.
On Tuesday, June 15, Neil will release another live performance on a new CD:
No Boundaries -- A Benefit For The Kosovar
Refugees. The 16 track CD features many other very well-known bands
(Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine, Wallflowers, etc)
and solo artists (Alanis Morissette, Peter Gabriel, Tori Amos, etc). Full details
about the CD and how the procedes will be used are available
on
the web.
A
full track listing for the CD, featuring sample clips from the contributions,
is also available. Note that the release of the CD in some countries will feature
bonus
tracks of local interest.
Neil's track will be a live recording of War Of Man, recorded during
this year's tour at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles on March 22.
Samples of the track are available
in
RealAudio format and
as
a plain wave file.
Until the August (expected) release of the new CSNY album, this will
help to hold us over. :-)
