Subject: neil's crew this tour
some comments about lights/sound on this tour for those who don't know/weren't aware. there are (at least) three key pearl jam crew members on tour with neil this time around - sound, lights, and the pj tour manager (who seems to be filling the same role for neil, as he was neil's 'handler' during the seattle 3/5 meet n greet)
they are (as all of pearl jam's crew is) incredibly talented, nice, wonderful people. and their presence at the shows tells me pj aren't on the road for a long while yet (well, at least while neil's on tour... so keep touring, neil! :)

Some excerpts from an article in the Toronto Sun. Sounds like the tickets will kinda expensive....
Canadian stop for CSNY: Cohl
By JANE STEVENSON -- Toronto SunThe upcoming CSNY reunion tour is still in the planning stages and doesn't yet have a launch date or location.
But Toronto's Michael Cohl, who is promoting the much-anticipated CSNY trek, expects it to begin in early August, playing in arenas and amphitheatres in North America for around three months. At least for the time being.
"We'll see how everything goes, and if it goes well, you never know," said Cohl on the phone from Miami yesterday, where the Rolling Stones played last night. "Let's face it. It's probably no different than the tour I'm on (with the Stones), where we always start out with just North America, and then if things are going well, it ends up going for a long time."
Cohl, who has also promoted tours by U2 and Pink Floyd, also said that Toronto is a likely stop. "I don't really know," he said. "There's no question we'll stop by in Canada. I mean, I am a Torontonian."
Cohl also expected the tour by the reunited quartet -- the first major one since 1974 -- to be a big deal for concertgoers with ticket prices comparable to those for the Stones, U2 and Pink Floyd.
"There's a few figures being bandied about, but they might have done 31 or 34 shows live ever," said Cohl of CSNY. "That's about as event-y as you can get. I'm sure it's going to be spectacular."
As for what the group is getting paid per show -- Rolling Stone says $500,000 -- Cohl didn't know. "I have no idea how much they're going to make," he said.

I just got the following word from two different sources (but am still trying to get more details). Start making tentative plans, Connecticut area Rusties!

I just called around down there and finally got someone who didn't say "Call Ticketmaster." Neil is apparently doing *one* mid-week show. I was told to call back next week when more will be known (I will). Tickets will probably go on sale next weekend. I gathered that the show will be right after the NYC shows but, again, they wouldn't give me a date, just that it would be one show. Here's hoping that this person knew what they were talking about!

David Crosby just did an interview with Mike Bullard on the Open Mike show (Canada: Comedy Network, CTV). He confirmed the upcoming CSN&Y tour. Subject: Virginia CSN&Y rumor
DISCLAIMER: This is the rankest sort of "friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend" rumor, and should be viewed in that light...
I was told today that a foafoaf who works in the Roanoke Civic Center office said to the foaf who said to the friend that CSN&Y is "pencilled in for Roanoke in the late summer, possibly outdoors."
"Outdoors" would most likely be Victory Stadium, an old football stadium in Roanoke, where the Dave Matthews Band played a reasonably successful show last September (I think it was.) Not a state-of-the-art facility by a long shot, but in a pleasant location and sorta funky. Also, it is down by the river.
So, will the tour hit this backwater burg in the hills? If so, it'll be Neil's first visit here since the Time Fades Away tour.
If we trust the "Sidewalk" websites (hey, they're from Micro$oft, so they MUST be accurate, eh? :-) then the April 28 Chicago show is confirmed.
They show tickets as going on sale this Friday at 10am. But note
that Chicago radio (WXRT) has been saying the tix will go
on sale at 5pm. Will clarify ASAP.

Article in yesterday's Sun Times: Chicago Promoter Loses Battle for Young. Here's the lead-in:
When tickets came on sale Saturday for two upcoming shows by rocker Neil Young, Chicago-based Jam Productions lost one of the first skirmishes in its war with concert-production giant SFX Entertainment Inc.I succumbed, however, and shelled out $168, total, for 2 $75 tix for Saturday night. Must admit, I am not very pleased with the seats, though... 23rd row, and off to the right on the main floor. I'd like to think that Neil chose SFX over Jam Productions for something other than the money. But concertgoers must pay the price.

Our man was spotted at the CSN show at Caesar's Tahoe this evening (I just got home). He was lurking -- yes, sitting watching the show in the audience. David Crosby hinted that Neil was on the left side of the stage in the audience, and everyone thought he was joking. Well, he wasn't.
Neil did not, I repeat, did not perform with CSN this evening. Neil was approached by a few folks, casually. His response: "... I'm an imposter... but you might see me play with these guys in the next day or so."
Tahoe's magic works again!

Subject: Eugene Ticket Sales
According to the Hult Center box office, sales start TOMORROW MORNING, (Tuesday) in Eugene, Oregon. Their phone hotline claims that FASTIXX will be handling the sales, but at least one person has called FASTIXX and been told that they are NOT handling the show. Best bet is to call the Hult Center box office directly, at (541)682-5000 (or maybe "Fred Meyer" who's also supposed to be selling tickets, at 1-800-992-8499).
Phone sales start at 10:00pm PST.
Walk up at the Box Office opens at 11:00pm PST.
NOTE: They claim that the first 4 or 5 rows (Gold Circle) WILL include a reception for the benefit of the Bridge School, which we assume includes a meet and greet with Neil (though, as we've heard, there are some hints that these receptions may not include Neil). These tickets must be ordered via the same phone number used for the reception tickets at the earlier shows: (206)223-1055. Price is $112.
So you Oregon or NorCal or SoWash Rusties (or any who feel like
traveling) here's another chance at those reception tickets. Even
without those, here's a chance at another Neil show for you all.

Subject: Vegas "Reception"
This was "revealed elsewhere":
For the Thursday show only --- there will be a reception beginning 20 minutes after the show. Neil will talk about the Bridge School charity. There will be 200 tickets available for the reception. If you buy one of the first 200 highest priced ($127) tickets sold at the Hard Rock box office, you will also receive a ticket for the reception. There is an 8 ticket limit per person. (You get 1 reception ticket for each show ticket.)
I had to let everyone know that a friend from where I used to work (Sears) has just informed me that Neil will be coming to Toronto (no firm date yet) to play at the newly built Air Canada Centre... Actually she said that it will be held in a separate building or section or something (Sears Theatre?) within the Air Canada Centre that Sears is somehow involved with (which is how she knew about it).
She's going to find out more info as soon as she can and of course I'll pass it on.
