Chords/Tabulature for
Silver and Gold
Submitted by: Harlan Leslie Thompson (harlant@hawaii.edu)
Notes about this song:
- Note from Wolfgang: Besides Harlan's (validated) version here,
there is an alternate version by Tom Hambleton below it.
G D
Working hard every day
C
Never notice how the time slips away
G D
People come, seasons go
C
We got something that will never grow old
CHORUS:
G C G C
I don't care if the sun don't shine
G C G C
And the rain keeps falling down on my and mine
G Am Bm Am D Dsus4 D
Cos our kind of love, never seems to get old
(N.C.) G C G C G C D
It's better than silver and gold
I used to have a treasure chest
Got so heavy that I had to rest
I let it slip away from me
Didn't need it anyway, so I let it slip away
CHORUS TWICE
G C G C
It's better than silver and gold
G C G C
It's better than silver and gold
G C G C G
It's better than silver and gold
Alternate version submitted by: Tom Hambleton (tah@scruznet.com)
Notes about this song:
- As performed at Bridge 11 (10/18/97
and 10/19/97).
- It's in a different key than earlier tabs. Neil also tunes the
low E to a D.
- There are some extra notes during the last 4 notes of the G run
that I can't figure out. He's striking a bass note with his pick and
fingerpicking a treble note with his middle finger at the same time.
I don't think it's a pure octave higher.
- I'm also not sure about the weird Em in the 7th position,
but it works.
- Note from Khyber (courche@uclink4.berkeley.edu): I've got this
performance on tape, and i believe Tom has hit it right. The only
thing I'm not sure of is where Tom's version has:
F#m Em A Asus4 A
...never seems to get old
I think it should be (where C/B = 002030 and D* = 002230):
F#m Em C/B D* (let ring)
...never seems to get old
Note from Wolfgang: This version is more or less unvalidated, since
I don't know the underlying recording, and there was almost no response
on the RG mailing list.
