Hey Everybody,
Man I hope this is true. Talked to a friend who is best friends with the owner(s)of Deer Creek Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana and said indeed Neil is coming. I asked how did he know? He wouldn't reveal exact details, maybe he doesn't know any but he told me "Just bank on it". Crossing my fingers as I write this.

Subject: Neil At SPAC...August 25

Well after assuring all rusties that Neil would not be at Saratoga Performing Arts Center this summer, they go and announce him for a concert on August 25. Tickets go on sale on July 5 and will cost $37 and $32 for seats and $20 on the lawn. Look for me. I'll be the guy with the sheepish look and the sign hanging around my neck....."unreliable info here".

I am most definitely happy to be wrong.

Subject: Ticketmaster morons

After Mark's post (he called at 11 AM), I called Madison Square Garden just now (2:25 EDT) to find out JUST WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE. The lady told me the on-sale date has changed -- that they would not have the on-sale info until around 5 PM Tuesday June 18th so that I should call back on the 19th when they would have the info.

When I told her that Chicago TM said tix go on sale tomorrow (Saturday), she said that had been changed. When I asked her for the date of the show she said August 29th --- when I said this conflicts with other info we have she got flustered and backed off of that saying something about the show being on a Monday (which Aug 19th is).

So there we have it---now I just don't know what to do with it!

Rusters,

Just got off the phone with the Walnut Creek box Office. Tickets for the August 12th show will go on sale Saturday June 22 at 10:00 am. Lawn seats are $17.75. Reserved seats are $22.75 and $32.75. Add in the usual TM charges.

For those who are not familiar: "Walnut Creek Amphitheatre" is the name of the venue in Raleigh, North Caroline, USA.

Party at my place before and after the show!!

Subject: MSG tickets for Neil

Rusties,

For what it's worth:

I called Ticketmaster this morning (Friday, 11 AM Eastern) and got their Chicago office. The lady there said that tickets for Neil Young at Madison Square Gardens will go on sale tomorrow, Saturday June 15, at 10 a.m. They go for $37 and $30, convienience charge (ordering over the 'phone) is $4.75 per ticket, overall handling charge *per order* is $2.00. So, if I bought 2 tickets over the 'phone I would pay $41.75 per ticket which makes $83.50 + 2 more dollars for a grand total of $85.50 (ouch!). Also, she wasn't sure if there would be a facility fee on top of that. (I say: enough already!) The show begins at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 19.

The only way she accessed this info was by checking the *venue*, so I asked for any Neil shows at 4 other venues in the neighbourhood: in Philadelphia, the Mann Music Center and the Spectrum; on Wrong Island, the Jones Beach Music Center; and in New Jersey, the Garden States Arts Center (she called it G.S. Music Pavilion). Anyway, so far, nothing doing for these venues...

Keep on rustin'!

Rusters,
A coworker who knows I'm a big Neil fan told me that a local radio station announced that Neil would play the Walnut Creek Ampitheatre Monday August 12. The DJ had no info as to when tickets would go on sale.

I just got off the phone with TM who don't know anything about the show -- it wasn't in their computer.

And just got off the phone with the Walnut Creek Box Office prerecorded "Concert Line" which did not mention the show either.

hmmmm. I just called Ticketbastard about MSG and Garden State Arts Center and they couldn't or wouldn't tell me ANYTHING!! The 'person' I spoke with said to try back on Thursday. No info on the TB or GSAC web sites either. I have too many tb horror stories to share... Forget getting tickets over the phone, you can't get through (at least not in this area) - I have NEVER gotten anything but nosebleed seats that way. The fact that tickets go on sale at 9:00 and the two tb outlets by me open at 10:00 is also very discouraging. When Neil toured here in '93, we called every tb outlet within an hour and found one that said they'd be open by 9:00. Got there early and the guy didn't show up til just before 10:00. Any word on getting a Rust Row???

In answer to queries on posting of Neil dates, particularly at MSG: I got my info simply by calling Ticketmaster. This info was then confirmed by my sources, who seem to be fairly reliable. There doesn't seem to be a ticket limit imposed, but who really knows? I also heard through my sources that a Jones Beach show will be added.

I just checked Ticketmaster for Pittsburgh, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, the Dakotas, WV, Indiana, and Kentucky - no information yet on Neil tix going on sale.

Then I called the NYC TM number: They confirmed that tickets go on sale 6/15 at 9am for the Neil Young performance at MSG, but they could not confirm what date(s) Neil will play the Garden. Also, no info on any other venues in the NY area. I hate to say it, but the TM person I spoke to sounded like they had their head way up their ass... Typical.

I stared at this guy until I realized that it was Bobby Sheehan, the bassist for Blues Traveler. Mrs C and I walked up to him and asked him if he was indeed THE guy and he answered "yeah". Wow! I just got this off the (unofficial) Gin Blossoms web page:

"In June, the Blossoms will be heading over to Europe to tour with Bryan Adams and Melissa Etheridge. In August and September, they'll be back on tour in the U.S. with the Goo Goo Dolls for a couple of weeks. Then they'll be doing some dates with Neil Young in September, mostly big cities on the East Coast."

Subject: Minneapolis dates being held for US tour

Hello everyone,
It appears that Neil may be playing in Minneapolis as part of the US tour. Using the technique described in an earlier post, I called the phone number for the administrative office of Target Center (the main concert venue here), introduced myself and asked to speak to "the person in charge of scheduling events at the center". I was transferred to a man named Jack and I asked him if they were holding any dates for the upcoming Neil Young tour. He said they were holding a couple of dates "in the second week of September". I asked when he thought a specific date would be confirmed he said he "should know by the 1st of June". Looks like things are shaping up...
