review by Doriann Unfulfilled Moon Wegner

Hello cowgirl in the sand....
Just back from Holmdel...and yes my fellow Rusties, he played Cowgirl.   :-)   I am happy... My fellow neil heads are happy too.   :-)   It was a beautiful long version, ala 1970.

The setlist was the same except he played Homegrown instead of Dance Dance Dance, and he dropped Hank to Hendrix. He did Cowgirl In The Sand and Mellow My Mind as encores. Again he was quite talkative, though nowhere near as talkative as Jones Beach.

Cowgirl was such a wonderful treat... Blew my mind. A few "How ya doin'?"s, not too many. He called Bad Fog Of Loneliness one of the saddest songs he ever wrote... He talked about something to do with being in Canada and it being freezing and then went into Winterlong. He introduced Harvest Moon with some story I have already forgotten and then said "This has absolutely nothing to do with this next song."

That foursome of songs! Walk On, Winterlong, Bad Fog of Loneliness and Words. It's almost too much to bear... They're all so wonderful and they are being performed so well. This band is awesome. Words is like a spiritual experience ... you will find yourselves transported. He fills Bad Fog with such pure emotion. Oh, and Peace Of Mind!!! I can not describe how beautifully this song is being done ... just perfect!

Tonight's the Night has been awesome. I know some of you could take or leave this song, but I tell you, this performance with Neil on the piano is hauntingly awesome. But Jones Beach was the best of my four shows for that one ... lots of trailing words and whispering and pounding piano keys and just special. :-)

Last night was a beautiful night, cool and clear. The show was wonderful, except that it was my last of four.

Thanks Neil. :-)

Peace
Doriann
