early report by Jim

No rain tonight. Another great show! Got 4 songs different from Tuesday:

Decided that Astrid looks alot like Morticia Addams from The Addams Family. If you are into gothic, I guess she would be okay. : )

I made my teenage son and daughter go to this show with me -- and the best I could get out of them was "Pretty good". But I have heard them humming Daddy Went Walking...

Hope the webcast of the show went well! One more show left, on Friday...

Red Rocks
Denver, Colorado, Sept. 20, 2000

report by Michael Barrow

Rusties will be stoked to know that the video equipment being used at Red Rocks isn't just for the Webcast, it's also for the production of a DVD to be released before the end of the year. I spoke with the camera operator that had Neil's "good side" (stage right from Neil's perspective). I made a cynical comment about schedules and Neil's proclivity to false starts, but the camera guy told me that the man in charge was backstage and the info he had was less than an hour old.

(HyperRust Editor's Note: That'd be L.A.Johnson...)
I had endured the first night of a consistant drizzle and eventual torrential downpour during Cowgirl In The Sand -- we probably got a quarter inch of rain there in the time it took to perform the song. I mentioned this to the camera guy: "I suppose that you won't be using much from last night, right?" (Since the wind and rain had really interfered with my enjoyment of the show, I thought it had affected the performance too.) But the guy said they would be sure to use the encores! "Wrath of God shit......totally incredible performance during a biblical event."

But on Wednesday, weather was not even an issue. The performance was abosultely stunning. What a difference a day makes. There was a well reserved crowd that paid attention when it mattered. Neil was on, and the rest of the group was in the zone too. A seminal performance.
