Subject: Bridge Dates
I spoke to Lookout yesterday afternoon to find out about this Brad/changed dates rumor. As of yesterday, the dates are STILL holding at October 18th and 19th. I could not find out if Brad would actually be on the bill, since they aren't releasing the list of artists to appear yet.
I will call again today since I wanna check on the Blues Traveller and Alanis rumors. As for Paul M., I can tell you that from what I was told, he IS NOT playing Bridge that weekend!

Subject: Bridge, Spain, YOTH
Just got off the phone with Lookout.
BRIDGE NEWS: PHISH right now is not confirmed. Not denied, mind you, but not yet confirmed.
SPANISH DATES: As of 5:08pm, Eastern Standard Time today there is NO Spain tour in October.
YEAR OF THE HORSE: November release date for BOTH the film and the soundtrack. The film will, at this time, have a limited run in "art house" type cinemas. I will not know where and when for quite some time. I jokingly requested to get the dates at the Bridge Shows and was told that's about when they should be known. But I will stay on top of it.

Subject: Bridge Lineup
I spoke with Lookout tonite... At this point in time I do not know the price of the tickets. Assume they're similar to last years prices. Additionally, I don't have the list of who's playing - I should have that in 2 - 3 weeks when it's all but confirmed (invites are still going out now). I know it really isn't helpful like that but....

Subject: Brazil, YOTH, Bridge
I spoke to Lookout last night and asked about this Brazil rumor. I was assured that it was just a rumor - there is no basis in fact and they seemed pretty pissed at whoever is going around Brazil saying this. However, I should point out that I didn't speak to my regular contact person so...............
Additionally, hopefully I will be able to get a schedule before the weekend is out for what cities will be showing Year Of The Horse and what opening dates would be. Do my best.
And I am also trying to find out the lineup for the Bridge shows so that those of you who are waffling about coming to IRF will be able to make up your minds. :-}

Subject: Neil in Brazil?
Just to let you all know, I tried getting hold of Lookout tonite but apparently all hell had broken loose over there and nobody could take my call. I will try and verify this one again tomorrow. However, I spent the better part of today listening to a rock radio station in Brazil and, while I can report that at a certain supermarket chain Budweiser, Coke and Mango's are on sale at excellent prices this week, there was absolutely NO mention of Neil, let alone any shows, at all.

Subject: Bridge Show Schedule Update
There will be 2 shows this year for Bridge. One will be on Saturday night (the 18th) and the other will be Sunday afternoon (the 19th). Early start for Sunday cuz, according to what Lookout said that Neil said, people have to leave early to get home on Sunday night.
Lineup is 95% confirmed as of now, but I don't have any information as to who is on the bill yet (Lorraine, if you're lurking out there CPR is NOT on the bill - I asked). I hope to have that ASAP.

Subject: Info about the Mill Valley Benefit
Might not be such a bad idea to purchase those tickets.....
I asked Karen over at Lookout tonite about it and here's what she told me. Apparently the ad itself is somewhat misleading. They specify Neil and Chris Isaak among others. Karen told me that the DRUMMER from Chris Isaak's band is the one showing up and she can't vouch for Chris himself. And as near as she could remember, the Neil connection is the band of one of his "techies". However, she told me that while it all depends on the mood he's in (and you know how Neil is when it comes to that), he's seriously considering showing up to lend support and to play a few numbers.
Then again, after this gets out...... :-}

Subject: Cameras at HORDE
This subject has come up a few times last week from several Rusties wanting to know if it was ok to take big rigs (35mm and stuff) into the HORDE shows. I checked tonite with Lookout and they told me that it's fine with them - it's entirely up to the venue policies. Apparently Neil doesn't give a s**t as long as it's for personal use. Check with your local venue and then go ahead and smuggle it in........

Subject: Bad News on Europe
Well, I spoke to Karen tonite over at Lookout and I have some bad news for our EuroRusties.
Due to "other projects" the chances of a European tour this year are "slim to none". Please don't ask me what the other projects are - I don't know. The word I got is that there would not have been time to mount a tour between the end of HORDE and the Farm Aid and Bridge dates which is why Sept/Oct is out. As for Nov/Dec, like I said, I don't know what the other projects are, so I wouldn't even begin to guess.
Sorry guys. Wish it could have been better news.

Subject: Virginia Beach Cancellation
As far as Virginia Beach goes, I am behind on my reading right now by about 12 hours so this may be old news, but since I didn't find out about this until 11:45pm Friday night I had no chance today to call either Cellar Door or Lookout to confirm/deny. If I haven't seen anything over the weekend to the effect that this is or is not true, I will call Monday soon as they open on the left coast. If we've gotten our answer and I'm just slow, forgive me......

Subject: Neil Solo Acoustic Sets Will Continue
According to Lookout, they will be continued throughout the HORDE tour. Neil supposedly is gonna try and do around 20 - 30 minutes right after the gates open, so you all might wanna get there early so as not to miss anything. It won't always be later in the afternoon.

Subject: Privacy
Neil showed at a private benefit on Monday night. I have no details about the gig itself. But something apparently happened that is disturbing.
When I spoke to Lookout tonite I was told that, the other night, Pegi Young called up over there rather upset, wanting to know what's with the Rusties! I do not know exactly what happened other than somebody did something which got both her and Neil extremely upset and then the offending party was heard to remark proudly to somebody else "oh yeah, I'm a Rustie".
Pegi was very upset. She feels that she & Neil try and be as accessible as possible to us fans and they do know how much good the Rusties do and they appreciate us and would like to maintain as much of a relationship with Rusties as possible. But she also said that they can't continue if stuff like this continues.
I don't know the particulars - I'm hoping to have them by midweek, so please don't email me asking what went down. I don't even know if this person was really a Rustie or was using our name in vain.
(RE*AC*TOR note: my sources indicate that the parties involved were NOT "known Rusties". That in fact there were hardly any known Rusties at this event.)I only know what Pegi said, and I'm hoping somebody who was there can fill us all in. As I explained to Lookout, Rusties would never knowingly do anything to hurt the Youngs. We love them like our own and part of being the fanatics that we are is our deep respect the family. LM is aware of that feeling and so are the Youngs (Pegi said so -- which is why they find this incident confusing).
I just don't wanna see one bad apple ruin it for the rest of us.

Subject: Europe, Australia and Farm Aid
Europe in the fall is about 95% right now. Let's just hope somebody else carves the turkey at the Young's house.....
Australia: Lookout has been in touch with an Australian promoter about this - actually it's the other way around. Where it stands right now is that Lookout is waiting for the promoter to send his/her proposal in to them, at which point it will be reviewed and negotiations will get underway. So keep your fingers crossed down under. It's not a definite, but it's a probable for early next year.
Farm Aid: Ok Texas - let's hear that sigh of relief. Farm Aid will be at Texas Stadium on October 4th.
Bridge: TBA - soon as I know you will too.

Just to let you all know, I did check this rumor last night and there is no truth to it as far as anybody could tell me.
I also found out that the YOTH digipaks were originally slated to be promotional copies only, and if you're really pissed about not getting the extra picture with the "cutouts", you can write to Reprise and complain!

Subject: H.O.R.D.E. Rumors
Seems that all of a sudden there are several rumors swirling around on various radio stations (including here in South Florida) that the H.O.R.D.E. dates have been cancelled due to Neil's injury.
What I can tell you is that effective 7:30 pm last night Neil is still VERY MUCH on the lineup at H.O.R.D.E. Even listening to the radio today at work today, one of the St. Louis stations was playing the commercial for ticket sales and trumpeting about how Neil & the Horse are headliners (can they play anything else as background but Cinnamon Girl & Southern Man!!!!)
I will be talking to Lookout tonite around 9pm eastern (and I know a few Rusties who have talked to them today as well and nothing was said) and will double check again. But unless things have changed in the past few hours, Neil is headlining H.O.R.D.E.

Subject: HORDE Dates - changing again!
Here's the dates I have changes on today. Just to let you all know, the entire HORDE schedule was updated/changed on Friday afternoon. Then it was updated/changed Monday afternoon. And it's supposed to be updated/changed tomorrow as well. But this information is good right now thru Thursday.......

Subject: HORDE & Europe clarification
Just spoke to Lookout, finally! Found out why the Eurodates are constantly "changing". It's cuz nothing was ever confirmed to begin with! So, the dates technically aren't changing at all. They were never committed to in the first place. Right now, at best, it's a guessing game........
And as for HORDE dates, it's even grimmer. Dates are changing and rearranging almost on a daily basis. Remember how Cincinnati was definitely on July 30th? Well now, Columbus is July 30th and Cincinnati is July 29th! Memphis, which was scheduled for July 25th, has been totally obliterated. Same for Indianapolis, which also was scheduled for July 30th. They may be rescheduled, they may not. As of now also, there are NO plans for any dates in Atlanta but that's scheduled to change next week (or not) as well.
And those 2 Florida dates I was all excited about and planned my summer around? They no longer exist at all! So now you know why I haven't been able to bring you any concrete info on dates - they don't exist! Seems that Great Woods is the only sure date as of now.
But I may know more next Tuesday - will keep you all informed.......

Just to let you all know - I'm equally as curious about why this sudden drop off of the Eurodates. Tried calling Lookout for the past 3 days - have not been able to get Jill on the phone. Today it was let slip that there are several "crises" going down right now and she's in the middle of them all trying to handle them. Now if these are Neil related I dunno - but the timing seems about right and it wouldn't surprise me.

Subject: RUSTROWS FOR HORDE - SEATTLE AND MANSFIELD
OK guys, gather round. Another year, another tour, another round of Rustrows. Got the green light tonite for those 2 cities. Once again, we got em!!!!!
So................. currently what I want to do is as follows:
MANSFIELD (GREAT WOODS): since tickets go on sale on April 19th it doesn't give us much time. I will be talking to the promoter by mid-week next so I need to know NOW if you're going and how many tickets you want. This way I can reserve a block. Will find out when I speak with the promoter how much tix are - I don't think we'll get any discount - and if I can find out where they will be I'll do that too. You can always cancel out before the money's due. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!! E-mail by MONDAY to this ADDRESS (LkoutMama@aol.com). I'm pretty sure that there is already a volunteer to send the money to and distribute tickets but for now I'll handle the initial stuff.
SEATTLE: No word on when tickets will go on sale. If you're interested in going please get in touch with the Seattle Rustrow coordinator: Caryn Rose. Let her know how many tickets you think you'll need ASAP since for all I know tix could go on sale that same date...
OTHER DATES: Will put out the call for Rustrows as I get the info.

OK, I spoke to Lookout tonite and here's the latest on what I found out. The reason we don't have all the European dates is that they are holding off announcing them until they have a complete schedule. Same thing with the H.O.R.D.E. dates, although I may have several more before the weeks end. But what I was told is that those dates you've all heard for both sides of the pond, even though not "confirmed" are official.
I do not yet know when tickets go on sale, but what I would like is a few volunteers for the Seattle, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Mansfield dates to help organize and coordinate Rustrows - assuming that we have them this year. This way we have the mechanism in place and ready to roll and we avoid a lot of the last minute crap we dealt with last time out (we hope).
If you wanna be foolish enuff to take this task on please email me. Best chance of reaching me is over on AOL at LkoutMama@aol.com. That's where I'm at most often.
Oh and one major disappointment. Once again it looks like there will be NO HORDE dates in Florida. Time to get the brakes fixed I guess - road trip will be in order again this year.........
