Silver and Gold (90s version)

Notes about this song:

  • As performed at Bridge 11 (10/18/97 and 10/19/97).
  • It's in a different key than the 80s version.
  • Neil also tunes the low E to a D.
  • There are some extra notes during the last 4 notes of the G run that I can't figure out. He's striking a bass note with his pick and fingerpicking a treble note with his middle finger at the same time. I don't think it's a pure octave higher.
  • I'm also not sure about the weird Em in the 7th position, but it works.
  • Note from Khyber ( I've got this performance on tape, and i believe Tom has hit it right. The only thing I'm not sure of is where Tom's version has:
           F#m Em A Asus4 A
        ...never seems to get old
    I think it should be (where C/B = 002030 and D* = 002230):
           F#m Em C/B D* (let ring)
        ...never seems to get old
  • Note from Wolfgang: This version is more or less unvalidated, since I don't know the underlying recording, and there was almost no response on the RG mailing list.
