Subject: NEIL IN AUSTRIA

Hello !! This is a confirmed date: Neil Young & Crazy Horse will play Wiesen (Austria) on June 23. Wiesen is a very nice location (max 8000 - 10000 tix) and just 45min away from Vienna. Neil in Austria for the third time, after Graz and Vienna in 87 and Salzburg 95. These were great shows.
Thanks,
Michael

Subject: Oslo Norwegian Wood June 13th ?!?

I rhapsodically announce: NEIL & CRAZY HORSE IN OSLO ...

It's pretty/almost sure Neil Young and Crazy Horse will be playing at Oslo's wonderful Norwegian Wood festival on Friday 13th this June. The Media hasn't caught up on this quite yet...perhaps those final papers aren't even signed quite yet.

The Norwegian Wood Festival's been yearly held in beautiful June climate settings in Oslo's largest park "Frognerparken". The outdoor arena is a natural landscape with tall trees, grass & large swimming pool installations close by. The only drawback is that this festival cannot room more than 7000 people (and NY&CH aren't playing in Sweden or Denmark this year, so these tickets are gonna sell like hot cakes).   =:-|   But for those with tickets, it's going to be a concert where we actually will see Neil & the Horse..!

Ticket sales for both days June 13-14 will probably start Saturday Apr 12 at Billettservice # 81533133 or the interpost web page. For non-Norwegians: your own country's international ticket services will help.

Pix, details & accommodations, etc, see the Norwegian Wood web page.

take care,
Anne

Subject: Neil Young @ Open Air St. Gallen

Hiya all ...

M O R E   B A R N   I N   S W I T Z E R L A N D

This evening (8.30pm) the headliners of the Open Air Festival in St. Gall in Switzerland have been announced. This festival is on the same weekend as the Glastonbury Festival in the UK (27. - 29. june 1997). Details are on their web site.

They only sell 25,000 3-day passes, so it probably will be sold out quite fast. Price for the 3-day pass is 135 Swiss francs (about 90 USD). Tenting is welcome.

Here's the program:

N E I L   Y O U N G   &   C R A Z Y   H O R S E

(on Friday, June 27th 1997)

Rest of the program is unimportant. :)

Subject: Another H.O.R.D.E. date (Somerset, WI)

In today's Mnpls Star-Tribune, in an article about Kula Shaker (in town at the moment) it mentions their appearance in HORDE and goes on to say that Neil Young and HORDE will be in Somerset, Wis "sometime in August". It also mentions BoDeans and Big Head Todd & the Monsters as being scheduled to appear with the tour. And it said that, for the first time, Blues Traveler will not be performing, since they'll be taping an album.

Subject: Another H.O.R.D.E. date

I heard on the radio today that the H.O.R.D.E. tour will open in Seattle this year July 12th (with Neil and a batch of bands that my head forgot when I heard the date).

I can't go, since it is my daughter's annual birthday camp-out week-end.   :-(

Grovel in advance for anyone who will tape it for me!

Subject: Neil at Loreley confirmed

It seems confirmed, that Neil and the Horse are going to be headliner to the first day (June 21) of the Loreley Festival. Supporting acts will be INXS, Skunk Anansie and David Byrne. Phish are going to play the next day. Although the festival is run by German TV station WDR I doubt that we're going to get a TV showing from the concert. Anyway it'll be a great show and I'll start counting the days.

Hey Rustnikitas und -nikkitis, especially the ones high in the Euro-North:

Yep, another rumour (don't know how confirmed that is) - info from an unofficial festival site. The Provinssi-Rock Festival in Finland, June 13-15, is showing Neil Young, with no "t.b.c." ("to be confirmed"), so I guess he's confirmed...

Subject: Farm Aid (non-)News

Hi folks,
I just got off the phone with the Cambridge, MA. office of Farm-Aid. According to them, a date and place for the 1997 Farm-Aid concert has not been set as of yet. I know someone reported some information about it being in Nebraska. Maybe that person has some inside information that Farm-Aid is not willing to let out yet, though...

I will keep you posted as soon as I can get some more information. I do speak with them a few times a year so if I get some info., I'll be sure to pass it along to all of you devoted Neil Young fans who I am sure know all about Farm Aid and why Neil supports their efforts. He is one of the 3 founders of the organization.

Subject: Neil & Skynyrd & Petty?

There are rumors that Neil & the Horse will tour Europe (and Italy) with these two "supporting" bands:

The Tom Petty / Lynyrd Skynyrd / Neil & the Horse line up for the Italian dates are a rumor coming from an Italian guy who's mad about Neil. I met him last Friday (April 28th) at an Italian Bruce Cockburn show (GREAT!!!), and he told me that his source is "very close to Elliot Roberts". He was sure about it...

Hi,
the first, and maybe ONLY, Neil Young Show in Germany this year seems to be on the 21st of June at the Loreley Open Air Theatre. In a monthly concert-newspaper called Musi-x, Neil and the Horse are announced as the headliners of the first Day of the 2 day Rockpalst Festival, wich will be also broadcast by German TV Station WDR.

See you all there.

I just heard that Neil is doing the Torhout/Werchter Festival, along with Bowie and lots of others. Can any of you Dutch or Belgian rusties confírm this? And what about a show in the Netherlands - I thought this has been mentioned..? Not too sure about a German date, if I find out more I'll tell you.

I have the feeling the tour is not completely settled and there are free dates. Perhaps ..... (just dreaming) My wish is a Neil-only show - I hate these big festivals.

Subject: BikeStock '98, HORDE '97

MSN's Totally Live News has a brief "unauthorized" interview with Bob Young about some of the BikeFest/BikeStock '98 arrangements, and repeats most of the stuff we've discussed already about the various releases coming up this year.

It also is the first place I've seen it mentioned that Neil will headline SOME OF the HORDE dates (rather than the entire HORDE tour). Looks like my prediction (that Neil won't headline the HORDE TOUR) is becoming more likely...

The story is at: http://pi.microsoft.com/TLN/TotallyLive.htm, but the servers there seem to be pretty flakey today.

Subject: NY in Germany?

I guess there's a lot of rumour on the streets these days. Just came home with another bit of information I got from my record dealer who is a promoter, too. He told me there will be a Neil show in Germany too, part of a festival. I don't know if it's true, but he usually has very good and fast connections. Definitely he's a Rusty (although without PC). I can tell you more next week. (He says) Flame me because of spreasding rumours, but it's mere excitement.

I just had a walk with my dog in the dark, cold evening and I had the feeling the comet (Hale-Bopp) was getting closer and closer. It's true you could write songs about it.

Subject: Willie does H.O.R.D.E.?

The Willie Nelson fan club reports that Willie will also be on the HORDE tour. More details will be forthcoming it said. I sure would like to see them do a song together!

---IMO If this turns out to be true, DONT MISS WILLIE NELSON!!!! No matter what preconcieved notions you may have about "country music" he is possibly the best acoustic guitar player ever. He has a great band that includes a harmonica player (Mickey Rapheal) that is simply in a class by himself. I dont want to tick anybody off, but I think he's better than either Neil or Dylan.

Ed
