Live Report From The Festival
Early Report by Tom Hanna
Wow,Neil did a solo set here in Cincinnati!!
He started at 3:05 and ending at 3:30 at the workshop tent.
Leo E. made a good call on Homefires!
He was in a great mood, asking for sing-a-long
chorus on the last tune. Called us an "obscure"
crowd, assuring us that was a compliment.
Tons o' Rusties already in attendance; more to come.
Psyched for the rest of the day... :)

It was a fucking great show.
Especially the acoustic set. Before Homefires,
BH yelled out "Ordinary People!", to which Neil says
"She wants me to do some obscure song
I did twice 9 years ago, with about 400 verses."
He also took questions: It was a turkey sandwich.
Notes about the Electric stuff:
- Rockin in the Free World - not very intense at first... But they got in
the groove eventually.
- Crime in the City - again, not as intense as Detroit's. Then they finally
started the fan on stage, and Neil sighed "Ahhhh"
about five times. I guess that did the trick, because he and the horse rocked from
there on out.
- Big Time - I think quite different that the 96, or the Detroit version.
This was a keeper. The song has always seemed brave to me. Tonight it
made me think that when two souls meet, they've got to be brave.
- Ohio (acoustic) - He said "...I just never
wanna forget those people" at the end of a fairly long rap about the song.
- Down By The River - he was.
- Tonight's the Night - Tried to tell Mrs. Cowboy about the stuff he's
been throwing into this one, making the version unique, and she says "Hasn't
it all been the same song?"
- Piece of Crap (encore) - He said "I'm not
used to running out of time...well, this is guaranteed to be awful."
It was. Awful, but good. :)
Adios, gotta hit the hay & get rested up for Columbus,
cowboy
