In today's local Coruña rag La Voz de Galicia there was an article about upcoming events. It mentioned the "rumours" (probably due to my incessant phone calls) about a possible Neil and Beck gig. They interviewed the manager of the venue who stated that there was no way either act would play on the 12th of July in Coruña, principally (they say) because NOA is playing at another venue in Coruña that day, and they don't want to compete.
So for me it'll be Portugal on
the 13th and the Esparrago on
the 15th. I'll be wearing my
yellow Rustie
t-shirt.

At The Bridge...
An early heads up: Pearl Jam is planning an appearance for this year's annual Bridge School Benefit concert in Mountain View, CA this fall. This will be the sixth appearance by a member or members of Pearl Jam in support of this wonderful organization that helps children with severe speech and physical impairments to communicate. For more info please see http://www.bridgeschool.org.
The Black Crowes will NOT be supporting Neil at the NEC Birmingham show. They have their own headlining show just up the road in Wolverhampton.

Subject: Glasgow Status
When Pollstar removed the Glasgow show from their not-very-up-to-date list of Neil shows (which doesn't include a few other Euro-tour shows, and hasn't updated Paris show to the Bercy, for instance) I wrote it off as an inacurracy there. But when that little "Neil has cancelled" thing showed up in the news on Ticketmaster.co.uk, I was concerned that something may actually have happened.
I'm still not 100% sure, but the following makes that "cancellation" pretty suspect:
Pollstar is no longer showing the June 10th show in Glasgow, and now the Ticketmaster.co.uk site (in the "Latest News" section) states "Neil Young has cancelled his 10 June show." I don't know if Glasgow is on or off!

Yep! About 4:30 this afternoon, through the Warfield back door, I saw Neil jamming away on a song I didn't recognize. Later on heard him playing Big Time.
One of his buds was waiting by the door with a white late-sixties Cadillac coupe. Word from the entourage was that he was planning on catching the Sharks tonight, but that there would be a show tomorrow night.
I waited around until almost six. I heard later that the rest of the crowd gave up about a quarter after when somebody from inside came out and insisted that it wasn't going to happen.
Can't swear to the fact that there won't still be a show tonight. Killed me to walk off with Neil jamming inside!

Still a lot of other rumors about possible special guests...
A week ago or so, my dear lady and I were discussing whether or not anyone in the UK was going to do a Farm Aid type thing in the UK. Foot and mouth disease has brought home to everyone in the UK that many farmers in Britain live on the breadline. One farmer I know in the beautiful south Shropshire hills near the Welsh border has about 150 acres of sheep pasture, moorland and hills. Last year his income was 2,200 GBP (about 3,100 US dollars). Times are bad, and the big supermarkets, banks and middlemen are screwing the farmers big time.
Anyway, in today's London Times there's a report saying that Michael Eavis (of the Glastonbury Festival fame) is planning a Farm Aid event at Shepton Mallet in early September. The report says
"Madonna, REM and Neil Young are being lined up..."Given Neil's US Farm Aid involvement, I would think he'd be interested in doing it, but I don't know if the current tour itinerary will allow it. In any case, he can always fly over on his own with a good old acoustic guitar... I'll keep you posted on developments.
