Subject: European dates are STILL changing

As a matter of fact, I've just heard from the local promoter that the Italian dates in Ferrara and Torino are almost definitely off.

Dates in Spain and Portugal are still tentative.

If anyone can help with a DEFINITIVE tour-list, this would help the poor souls who are trying to book their holidays to go to the shows.

I wonder why things are always so difficult w/Neil....

Subject: Widespread Panic pulls out of H.O.R.D.E.

The MTV web site is carrying a story that Widespread Panic is pulling out of the H.O.R.D.E. tour because:

> "...the H.O.R.D.E. camp did not honor agreements it
> made with the band about the bill for the tour and
> the times the band would take the stage.
>
> "We had a deal since March and only this week learned
> the tour organizers weren't going to live up to it. We
> have to move on at this point," the band's management
> declared.

According to this week's issue of Amusement Business:

"The H.O.R.D.E. Festival has a train theme this year and will feature Lionel Trains, who will occupy their own tent on the concourse. Lionel will debut new technology with a massive switching yard and train set. Festival attendees will be encouraged to operate the controls of this interactive display, and the train theme will be constant throughout all stage design and artwork."

Subject: Neil Young NOT at Cascais, Portugal?

Here in Lisbon, a Portuguese music-paper called BLITZ writes today (May 13) that Neil Young is not performing at Cascais (June 1) because the 1997 European Tour is starting earlier than expected

(HyperRust editor's note: I think Miguel means "later than expected".)
and the Portuguese organization should accept some other date, which they say is not possible. It's the third confirmed show in Portugal that is never going to happen!

Subject: H.O.R.D.E. at Dallas

Got a flyer from Texas Tickets (a legal scalping place in Dallas -- Texas has no laws about reselling tickets for a higher price, and that sucks). It had a list of upcoming show dates and then a list of shows that are supposed to be coming. It had Neil and H.O.R.D.E. listed. No date yet, but hopefully it will be listed soon and not just be a rumour.

Today on Studio Brussel came the official announcement: Neil Young & Crazy Horse on June 18th at Vorst Nationaal, Brussels. The opening act is Seahorses, the new group of John Squire (ex-Stone Roses).

Vorst Nationaal (capacity 8000) is much smaller than Flanders Expo (capacity 12000). Thank you Neil!

The cost of tickets is 1120 BFR, but if you buy them by phone they charge you 1200BFR. But it's better to buy them by phone NOW, because they won't be available in the usual agencies (if stil available) until the 17th of May. You can order them by phone at 070/344 111 or 070/345 345. There's a secured postal cost of 250 BFR, so it's better to order more than 1 ticket per purchase.

Subject: Entertainment Weekly

Just got my Entertainment Weekly in the mail and here's what the Music Special addition says about our man:

H.O.R.D.E (July 11 through Sept 1) Sporting as many former Lollapaloozers as hacky-sack-nation jam bands, this year's HORDE is surprisingly strong. Crusty headliner Neil Young - who turned down Lollapalooza last year - certainly won't offend hippie sensibilities, but oddball alt-rockers Soul Coughing, Morphine, and Kula Shaker should draw a more diverse crowd than HORDE'S of yore. Even so, expect plenty of noodle dancing during sets by Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Widespread Panic, and Blues Traveler (who'll sit in on a few dates).
Notice the July 11th date. Previous reports were that H.O.R.D.E. kicks off on July 12th.

Subject: CSNY at Kent for May 4?

There have been rumors circulating in the Cleveland media about Neil joining CSN at Kent in the afternoon on May 4 and/or at the Agora Theatre in Cleveland that night. There were also plenty of rumors about Neil showing at the opening concert for the Rock Hall two years ago, and those didn't pan out, so I'm skeptical.

Still, Kent is only 40 minutes away (and my wife is a Kent grad), so I plan to be at both just in case. The worse thing that can happen? -- you only get to see CSN. Sounds worth the risk to me.
